Your videos and photos never leave your iPhone unless you choose to share them. DosCam has no account, no advertising and no tracking. It does use Google Analytics for Firebase to collect anonymous usage statistics that help us improve the app, as described below.
Usage statistics (Google Analytics for Firebase)
DosCam uses Google Analytics for Firebase to understand how the app is used, for example which save mode people choose, roughly how long takes are, and whether exports succeed. This includes:
- how you use features in the app (no video, audio, images, file names or text from your recordings);
- a random app-instance identifier created by Firebase. It isn't your advertising identifier and isn't linked to your name, email or Apple ID;
- your approximate country or region, which Google works out from your IP address;
- basic device information such as iPhone model and iOS version.
This data isn't linked to your identity, isn't used for advertising and isn't sold. DosCam doesn't use the advertising identifier (IDFA) and doesn't track you across other apps or websites. Google processes this data under the Google Privacy Policy and the Firebase privacy terms. Google retains the data for 14 months.
Your videos and photos
Videos you record are stored on your iPhone, inside DosCam. Photos you take with DosCam are saved to your Photos library. They leave DosCam only when you choose to:
- if Save to Photos is on, DosCam copies finished videos into a “DosCam” album in your Photos library, and saves photos there;
- if you export a video to Photos, Files, or share it with another app.
DosCam doesn't upload your videos, photos or sound anywhere, and we can't see them.
If your iPhone backs up to iCloud, your device backup may include DosCam's recordings. Apple handles that under its own privacy policy.
Location (optional, off by default)
If you turn on Save location in videos & photos in DosCam's settings, DosCam asks for your location while you use the app and writes where you recorded into those videos and photos — the same way the iPhone Camera app does. The location stays in your files and your Photos library. DosCam doesn't send it to us, to Google Analytics or to anyone else. Be aware that sharing a video or photo can share its location; you can turn the setting off at any time.
Camera, microphone and Photos
- Camera: to record from two cameras at the same time.
- Microphone: to record sound with your video. You can record without sound.
- Photos: to save your videos and photos to Photos and to remove DosCam's own copies when you ask it to. DosCam doesn't read or upload your other photos.
You can change these permissions at any time in the iPhone Settings app.
Settings stored on your iPhone
DosCam remembers your choices, such as your save mode, video shape and camera pair, on your iPhone so they're the same next time. It also checks free storage space so it doesn't run out mid-recording.
Deleting your data
To reset the usage statistics identifier, delete and reinstall DosCam. Delete a take in DosCam to remove it from the app. Copies in Photos can be deleted in Photos, or together with the take when DosCam offers to. Deleting the app removes everything stored inside it.
Children
DosCam isn't directed at children and collects only the anonymous usage statistics described above.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
